S.S. Alabama Room

The centerpiece of the Alabama Room features a 9 foot model of this great ship which once was the pride of the Goodrich Transit Company. Built in 1909 in Manitowoc, Wisconsin, She sailed Lake Michigan from Chicago, Grand Haven and Muskegon. She could carry 2000 passengers, and had staterooms for 300. In 1933 she was sold, and served under several different companies until 1946. There are several artifacts from the S.S. Alabama on display here on the S.S. Milwaukee Clipper. This great model is on loan from the Michigan Maritime Museum in South Haven.  This museum is another “Must See”.
